LOG — THE WAIT · IRS-PUBLISHED WINDOWS ONLY · NO INVENTED SPEED, NO EXPRESS PROMISES
The Wait
Your bank application is sitting on this number, so you deserve the IRS's own figures, labeled as the IRS's own — plus the one honest sentence every seller in this niche avoids: real waits vary, and nobody can issue an EIN faster than the IRS does.
Phone — the international call log
Have the completed SS-4 in front of you. The caller must be authorized to receive the EIN and answer questions about the form: the entity's exact legal name, the responsible party, the address the CP 575 should reach, and the reason for applying. That is the whole call — the agent works the same form you see in The Form, Annotated.
Fax — the transmission log
Mail — the slow log
After assignment
Usable immediately for most purposes (bank account, licenses, paper returns); up to 2 weeks before it passes IRS TIN matching and e-file systems. Source: IRS — EIN page.
What “timeline management” means in EIN Complete
- Submission confirmation. You get the record of what was sent, by which route, and when — so “did it go?” is never a mystery.
- Expected-window tracking. Your case is tracked against the IRS-published window for its route, with the high-inventory caveat applied honestly.
- Status chasing. If the window passes without the EIN, the follow-up is ours to make — you are not the one on hold with the international line.
- CP 575 delivery. The EIN confirmation notice (CP 575) is delivered into your hands as the closing document of the engagement. Lost it later? The IRS issues Letter 147C as the replacement path — we show you that route in the delivery note.
Log footer note — The same IRS page warns: “High inventory levels may result in processing delays.” That sentence is part of the timeline. A fax filed in a high-inventory period can take materially longer than four business days, and a seller quoting you “4 days, guaranteed” is quoting the brochure line and omitting the warning. This desk plans around the window plus the warning — and says “varies” where the IRS gives no firm figure, rather than inventing one. No page on this site states an IRS processing time as this desk's commitment, and nothing here offers an EIN faster than the IRS issues it. There is no “express” tier. The IRS has one queue; we manage your place in it, we do not jump it.
